PUL-E-ALAM, Afghanistan, July 8 (Xinhua) -- As many as 48 militants loyal to Taliban were killed and 10 others wounded following series of security forces operations in Afghanistan's eastern Logar province over the past 24 hours, Shahpor Ahmadzai, a provincial police spokesman, said Monday.
The operations backed by fighting aircraft, were conducted by the joint army and police forces over the past 24 hours, leaving 48 insurgents dead and 10 others wounded around provincial capital Pul-e-Alam and adjoining areas including Baraki Barak and Khoshi districts.
The source didn't say if government troops have suffered casualties.
Taliban militants fighting government forces in the restive province have yet to make comments on the report.
