UNITED NATIONS, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations' aviation agency expects a full investigation into the crash of a Ukrainian jetliner in Iran, said Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, on Thursday.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a specialized agency of the UN charged with coordinating international air travel, was quoted by Haq as saying that it had received formal notification of the crash.
A full investigation will be carried out and Iran will submit a preliminary report to the ICAO within a month after the crash, according to Haq.
The Ukrainian passenger plane crashed Tuesday near Tehran, with all 176 people on board confirmed dead.
