LHASA, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region will push forward the preparation for construction of a national park cluster on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in 2020, said Qizhala, chairman of the regional government.
The cluster includes national parks built around Mount Qomolangma, Sanjiangyuan and Qiangtang, with the aim to better protect the unique ecosystem of the plateau and exploit natural resources in a sustainable way.
Construction on the cross-provincial Sanjiangyuan National Park, home to the headwaters of the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers, will begin in Tibet this year, said Qizhala.
