PUL-E-KHUMRI, Afghanistan, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Twenty-eight people were dead and nine others wounded in two separate road accidents in northern Afghanistan, authorities said Tuesday.
In one incident, 17 commuters were killed and six others wounded after a minibus veered off a dusty road and fell down in a ditch in northern Baghlan province on Tuesday morning, district chief Lutfullah Hatif told Xinhua.
The injured were shifted to a hospital in the mountainous district and next of kin if the victims were notified, the official added.
On late Monday, in similar incident, 11 people lost their lives and three others injured when a minibus lost control and fall down in a river in Balkhab district of neighboring Sari Pul province, according to local officials.
Women and children were among the victims of the incidents, they said.
Poor road condition and drivers' recklessness are mostly behind tragic traffic incidents in some Afghan provinces.
