CAIRO, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit voiced on Monday concerns and worries over the continuation of violence in Iraq.
"More disturbances would increase foreign pressures and further complicate the situation," he said in a statement.
Aboul-Gheit urged the political leadership in Iraq to work out an exit from the current mayhem.
Meanwhile, he reiterated his understanding of the state's willingness to control the security situation and prevent chaos.
"A consensus among protesters and political leadership under the umbrella of the Arab League is the only way out of the current stalemate," he added.
Early in October, mass protests erupted across Iraq demanding comprehensive reform, fight against corruption, improvement of public services and job opportunities.
The violence left over 300 killed and 15,000 wounded, according to the Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights.
