PHNOM PENH, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Hosts Cambodia defeated the Northern Mariana Islands 9-0 in their Group G second match of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-19 Championship 2020 qualifiers here Monday.
The Cambodian squad scored six goals in the first half of the game, and another three goals in the second half.
Played at the Olympic Stadium, the game attracted about 3,500 local fans, mostly youth.
Group G in the eastern zone consists of Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei and the Northern Mariana Islands. Cambodia has been hosting all Group G qualifying games from Nov. 2 to 10.
On Saturday in their opening clash, Cambodia lost to Malaysia 5-4.
A total of 46 teams from across Asia have been drawn into 11 groups in the AFC U-19 Championship 2020 qualifiers, according to the AFC.
All group winners and four best second-placed teams in all groups will qualify to the finals alongside hosts Uzbekistan, who will receive automatic qualification, the AFC said on its website.
