JAKARTA, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Both Voni Darlina and Happiness Beauty from Indonesia reached the final of the women's singles at the 2019 Indonesian Soft Tennis International Championships, securing a title for the hosts.
In the semifinals played on Wednesday, Voni defeated seeded South Korean Han Subin 4-1, while Happiness beat Malaysian Roslan Nurin in four straight sets.
The women's singles final is scheduled to be played on Saturday at the Tennis Club Kelapa Gading in capital Jakarta.
"This is a good thing for the Indonesian women players. Hopefully this would boost their confidence during the forthcoming 2019 SEA Games," team manager Hendri Susilo Pramono was quoted by media as saying on Thursday.
In the men's singles event, local favorite Fernando Daniel set up a final clash against South Korean seed Jo Yeongseok.
The 5th Indonesian Soft Tennis Championships, slated on August 13-17, features a total of 85 athletes from South Korea, India, Japan, Malaysia and host Indonesia.
