AMMAN, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Sunday expressed solidarity with the families of victims of a mass shooting in Texas, the United States.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the horrific shooting in El Paso, Texas," the minister said on his official Twitter account.

"Our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to American people and government. Terrorism and culture of hate are a common enemy. We condemn all kinds of terrorism and hate crimes," said Safadi.

Twenty people were killed and 26 others wounded on Saturday after a shooting at a shopping mall in El Paso, Texas, local officials said at a press conference.

A police spokesman said a white male in his 20s was in custody and investigations were underway to determine what happened during the attack.

In a later mass shooting, nine people, including the perpetrator, were killed and 16 others injured early Sunday in Ohio outside the Ned Peppers Bar in Dayton city's Oregon area.
