JERUSALEM, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Romanian league champions CFR Cluj eliminated the Israeli top team Maccabi Tel Aviv in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League after a 2-2 draw in the second leg match in the Israeli coastal city of Netanya on Tuesday.

A week after winning the first leg match 1-0 in the city of Cluj-Napoca, the Romanians conceded a goal after 15 minutes, by Maccabi's English striker Nick Blackman.

The celebrations of the 12,000 local fans lasted only 4 minutes, as Cluj's Argentinian midfielder, Emmanuel Culio, scored from the penalty spot.

In the 42nd minute, Cluj scored a second goal, with an accurate header by the Venezuelan striker Mario Rondon.

Israeli substitute striker Yonatan Cohen, who entered the field at halftime, leveled the score at 2-2 just after 3 minutes, with an impressive kick from 16 meters.

In the third qualifying round, the Romanian champions will face the Scottish champions Celtic FC, who twice defeated Estonian champions Nomme Kalju.

Maccabi Tel Aviv, on the other hand, dropped into the Europa League, and will play the Lithuanian champions FK Suduva in the third round.
