BEIJING, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The 5G technology will help bring a number of new business forms that are unimaginable now, just like how 4G catalyzed mobile payment and short videos, said an expert at the 2019 China Internet Conference.
"Combining approaches such as moving data to the cloud and virtualization, 5G will usher in an overall innovation of network technology," according to Wu Hequan, an academician with the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of the Internet Society of China, which hosted the three-day conference that ended Thursday.
"The combination of 5G, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) will be widely used in areas including video, tourism and medical care," he said, citing that with the help of VR and AR, it would take a surgeon less time to learn how to perform an operation.
The advantages such as low delay and high broadband speed of 5G will also come particularly handful in industrial application and car networking, Wu added.
