BERLIN, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Headlines currently couldn't be more sceptical when it comes to 2019 German Champion Bayern Munich and its staffing policies. Several media outlets are speaking of a transfer disaster and assume the Bavarians ahead of a difficult season.

Attempts to sign players of international top class seems to constantly fail as Leroy Sane (Manchester City), Ousmane Dembele (FC Barcelona) and Calum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea FC) are reported to have rejected offers from Bayern.

But to add new faces to the squad of coach Niko Kovac to address the side's ambitions seems inevitable. The current team is said to lack the needed quality after experienced forces such as Mats Hummels, Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, James Rodriguez, and Rafinha have left with Jerome Boateng expected to follow shortly.

What is behind the Bavarians difficulties?

"Bayern needs additional quality. They need to invest and update the present squad," former French international Franck Ribery commented. "There are many they need to replace. To only go into the new season with Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman along the flanks might be not enough," the former Bayern professional added.

Reports of leading German media such as the Sueddeutsche Zeitung and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung speak of a "challenging time."

Inside information says it might take until former German international Oliver Kahn is taking over the leading part in January 2020 to solve the structural problems. The 2001 Champions League winner and 86 times capped goalkeeper is taking over as the clubs' chairman from Karl-Heinz Rummenigge next year.

The current sports director Hasan Salihamidzic remains under fire as "good news" are missing when it comes to significant arrivals.

Some say Moenchengladbach sports director Max Eberl is still a Bayern's target.

German shooting star Sane is assumed to stay with the Citizens, but a final decision is expected after the 23-year-old winger is returning from vacations. Premier League Champion Manchester City has according to reports announced to keep Sane and extend the contract.

German international Joshua Kimmich recently said Sane might decide over his future considering "which club is providing the best chances to win the Champions League."

Bayern at present can hardly claim to be in a better position than many of its international rivals.

Kimmich renewed his ambitions putting pressure on his club. "It is of great importance for him to have the chance to win the Champions League in every season," the 24-year-old right-back and midfielder underlined.

The youngsters' fraction wants to reach the semi-final or final every year Kimmich stressed. Kimmich mentioned all of Bayern's youngsters such as Gnabry, Coman, Niklas Suele and Leon Goretzka are behind him.

The pay-tv station "Sky" is reporting 22-year-old Dembele has decided to stay in Barcelona despite the likely transfers of French 2018 World Champion Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid) and rumors about a move of Paris St Germain star Neymar Junior.

Reports from England indicate Chelsea won't sell Bayern target Callum Hudson-Odoi as their new manager Frank Lampard is going to count on young talents to rebuild his squad.

RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner might be an option for this transfer period while Bayern initially intended to sign the German international not before summer 2020.

Not only Kimmich demanded new quality but spearheading Robert Lewandowski. "We need players able to help us right away," the 30-year-old Pole commented adding creativity is required to gain "new blood" for the current squad.

Bayern coach Kovac announced to possibly change the team's tactics and use a back-row of 3 with a right and left back to strengthen the flanks "if we don't get additional wingers."
