ASSADABAD, Afghanistan, July 4 (Xinhua) -- A total of 10 militants affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) outfit have been confirmed dead as security forces stormed the militants' hideout in Watapor district of the eastern Kunar province, said a statement of provincial government released here Thursday.
Acting upon intelligence report, the security forces stormed the hideout of IS insurgents in Anangorbanda area of Watapor district late Wednesday, killing 10 insurgents on the spot and smashing their hideout.
According to the statement, the security forces would continue to target the insurgent groups elsewhere in the country.
The hardliner IS group which is operational in Kunar and the neighboring Nuristan and Nangarhar province has yet to make a comment.
