JAKARTA, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian badminton association has been sanguine that gold medal could be secured from men's singles during the forthcoming 2019 Indonesian Open in the country's capital of Jakarta, an official said here on Wednesday.
Head of sport development of the association Susy Susanti disclosed that both Jonathan Cristie and Anthony S. Ginting are seeded and are expected to achieve best results during the tournament which is slated to be played from July 16 to 21 in Istorar Senayan sport stadium.
"I think men's singles players have opportunity to prove their capabilities," Susi said in a statement.
At the first round Ginting is to meet Chinese opponent Lu Guangzu and Jonathan will face Dannish player Rasmus Gemke, the association said.
Another Indonesian men's singles player Tommy Sugiarto will meet Chinese player Chen Long, it said.
