DHAKA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- China is keen to work with all parties to promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation globally, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Zhang Zuo has said.

"We're willing to, together with cooperative partners, sow the seeds and reap the fruits," Ambassador Zhang told a press conference in Dhaka Wednesday.

The press conference was convened to brief journalists about the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) held in China late last month.

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a long-term project and a common cause for global partners, the ambassador said, noting that remarkable outcomes have been achieved at the second BRF.

He said China and its partners will work to bring more benefits to people around the world, and make more contributions to jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.

With the theme of "Belt and Road Cooperation, Shaping a Brighter Shared Future," the second BRF was aimed at bringing about high-quality cooperation under the BRI framework.

The participating parties had an in-depth exchange of views on the Belt and Road cooperation and reached broad consensus on high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, he said.

With the second BRF as a symbol, a new vision for the BRI has been shaped at a new starting point, according to the diplomat.

"In the next step, under the blueprint drawn up during the second BRF, we will continue to inherit the past and usher in the future, work with all parties to refine the concrete and vivid details, and jointly promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation."

The second BRF was attended by heads of state and government from 38 countries, over 6,000 foreign guests from 150 countries and 92 international organizations from April 25 to April 27.

Proposed by China in 2013, the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Initiative aim to build a trade and infrastructure network that will link Asia with Europe and Africa along the ancient trade routes of the Silk Road.

Ambassador Zhang said under the leadership of the two countries and the principle of "extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits," a series of cooperation projects have been carried out in Bangladesh. The BRI became "a road of opportunities and development" for both peoples.
