JAKARTA, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia is aiming for qualifying points to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the upcoming International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Relay Championships in Yokohama, Japan.
"I am very optimistic to get the points to qualify us in 2020 Olympics. We noted several improvements in our training sessions," the leading runner Lalu Mohammad Zohri said on Wednesday.
Besides Zohri, Indonesia would send Muhammad Abina Bisma, Eko Rimbawan, Adi Joko and Bayu Kertanegara for the event on May 11-12.
Zohri said that the team has recorded quicker speed during the training sessions compared to those at the recent Asian Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar and in Singapore Open.
"In Doha we booked 39.70 seconds (in 4x100m relay), in the training sessions we booked 39.50 seconds," Zohri said.
Without Zohri's presence in Singapore Open, Indonesia finished by 40.26 seconds.
