WASHINGTON, May 5 (Xinhua) -- A house fire Sunday killed two people and injured five others in New Haven, the U.S. state of Connecticut, according to the local fire department.

Firefighters found two unconscious people on the third floor of a blazing house, who later died at the hospital, according to New Haven Assistant Fire Chief Orlando Marcano.

Marcano said the bulk of the fire was on the second floor of the building, with flames reaching the third, prompting some people to jump out of windows, one of whom suffered injuries.

Four firefighters also sustained minor injuries, according to Marcano.

The house was determined not habitable after the fire was put out, Marcano said.

According to local land records, the house was built in 1910.
