BEIJING, April 25 (Xinhua) -- China Minmetals Corporation, the country's largest metals and minerals group, said its copper imports from Chile would rise to 900 million U.S. dollars this year.
Guo Wenqing, president of China Minmetals Corporation, made the remarks at a meeting of Chinese and Chilean entrepreneurs Thursday.
China Minmetals hopes to expand cooperation with Chilean businesses and make more contribution to metal mining, trade, metallurgical engineering and infrastructure in Chile, Guo said.
"China Minmetals was one of the earliest participant in China-Chile economic cooperation," Guo said, noting that the company imported China's first shipment of electrolytic copper from Chile and inked a 15-year-long sales deal with a Chilean copper producer.
Guo called on Chinese companies to expand win-win cooperation with Chilean partners in more areas.
Guo is also the president of the Chinese section of the China-Chile Business Council, founded in 2005, which has played an active role in strengthening links and pushing forward cooperation between businesses on the two sides.
