China, Kenya to enhance cooperation between legislative organs

NAIROBI, April 14 (Xinhua) -- China and Kenya on Saturday expressed their willingness to deepen cooperation between legislative organs from both sides.

During his visit to Kenya on April 12-14, Cao Jianming, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), held talks with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and met separately with Senate Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Moses Cheboi.

The NPC stands ready to promote friendly exchanges with the Kenyan legislature, so as to play a positive role in advancing China-Kenya friendship and bilateral practical cooperation, Cao said.

He said China attaches great importance to the development of China-Kenya relations and is willing to work with Kenya to implement the consensus reached by both leaders, as well as achievements made by the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, promote the Belt and Road Initiative, and continuously enrich the content of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the Kenyan side spoke highly of the achievements of bilateral cooperation in various fields and thanked China for its long-term assistance and support, expressing its willingness to further communication and cooperation with China in various fields including legislature.

Kenya is also willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation in international affairs and realize more tangible achievements in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
