AARHUS, Denmark, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's Hellen Obiri, the reigning world 5,000-meter champion, achieved historic world treble on Saturday when she won the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus, Denmark.
With the victory, Obiri became the first woman to have won senior world titles indoors, outdoors and at cross country.
Obiri covered the 10.24km course in 36:14, two seconds ahead of Ethiopian Dera Dida, with two-time world U20 cross-country champion Letesenbet Gidey third in 36:24.
Kenya and Ethiopia have occupied the top two spots in the team race at every edition of these championships since 2002 and that trend did not change in Aarhus 2019.
