KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, March 13 (Xinhua) -- At least eight militants were confirmed dead and three others sustained injuries after fighting aircraft targeted Taliban hideouts in Khanabad district of Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province on Wednesday, district governor Hayatullah Amiri said.
The sorties, according to the official, were launched early Wednesday morning and a Taliban commander, Mullah Alawdin, was killed in the strikes.
However, locals said two civilians were also killed in nearby raids.
The Taliban hasn't commented yet.
