DOHA, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz witnessed on Wednesday the signing of cooperation agreements between the two countries, state Qatar News Agency reported.

The agreements came as part of a visit by the Qatari emir to Austria to discuss boosting trade and economic relations.

The two countries also tackled cooperation in the economic, investment, trade, energy, technology and health fields.

There was another memo of understanding signed to further develop and boost cooperation in tourism sector and joint exhibits, Qatari Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari said.

"The two countries also discussed joint investments specially in the light of the developments in the region and the investment environment in Qatar," he added.

There are some 150 Austrian companies in Qatar.

In June 2017, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt severed diplomatic ties, and closed off air, sea, and land routes with Qatar, over the latter's alleged support of terrorism.

Qatar has consistently denied the charges.
