WASHINGTON, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese player Zhu Lin battled for two hours and 40 minutes to beat Anna Blinkova from Russia to qualify for the women's singels main draw at the BNP Paribas Open held in Indian Wells, California on Tuesday.
Seeded No. 9 in the qualifying, Zhu lost the first set at 6-4, but clawed back to win the marathon match at 4-6, 6-4, 7-5. The match was close as Zhu converted on eight out of 21 breaking chances with Blinkova breaking seven times.
Zhu, ranked 95th in the world, will play against Mona Barthel of Germany in the first round of the main draw.
