SYDNEY, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Australia's Labor Party is set to win the Victoria state election on Saturday, with the latest poll results pointing to a landslide victory.
Early results indicated that the Labor had clinched at least 55 of Parliament's 88 lower-house seats, with big swings in state capital Melbourne, reported the ABC news channel.
"There is nothing in any figures we're seeing at the moment which points to anything but a Labor victory," election analyst Antony Green told the channel.
The re-election of the Labor's Premier Daniel Andrews to a second four-year term in the state with an increase in majority would mark a significant setback for the Liberal-National coalition party and the Australian Greens party.
"I am surprised at the degree of the swing out in the eastern suburbs," the state's Health Minister Jill Hennessy was quoted as saying.
