BEIJING, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- A total of 30 special exhibitions held by art museums across China from June to September attracted more than 2.2 million visits, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Saturday.
The annual four-month exhibition season has been the seventh of the kind since 2012 and joined by both national art museums and art galleries at city and county levels, said a press release from the ministry.
In the past seven years, more than 70 art museums and galleries have organized about 180 exhibitions and received more than 10 million visits, the statement said.
Around 15,000 pieces of art collections have been displayed, about 60 percent of which were first showed after being put in collection.
The program helps art museums sort out collections more efficiently and engage more in public service, the ministry said.
