AMMAN, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese embassy in Amman has donated a total of 289 tablets to Jordan's Ministry of Education for use by several schools across the kingdom.
Donating the tablets is part of China's efforts to strengthen the ties between the two countries in various fields, Chinese Ambassador Pan Weifang was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the Chinese embassy in Amman.
At the handing-over ceremony held on Sunday, Pan said that the tablets will be used at the King Abdullah schools for excellence in various governorates.
The ambassador commended Jordan's efforts to improve the education system, which plays a key role in advancing the country.
Pan said Jordan and China, which enjoy strong relations and solid friendship, are keen on boosting bilateral ties in the fields of commerce and culture.
Pledging that China will continue to support Jordan, the Chinese envoy also mentioned that China has implemented investment projects in Jordan in various fields.
He added that several public agencies in Jordan have already benefited from the training courses offered by China in various technical fields.
Jordanian Education Minister Azmi Mahafzah expressed appreciation to the Chinese government for its donation.
He said that the Jordanian students will benefit from the tablets which will be used for learning.
Mahafzah added that China has extended several grants and soft loans to Jordan over the past years and helped implement projects in the fields of water, education and health.
