NEW DELHI, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Camel's milk has much nutrition value and chocolate made from it is increasingly in demand in the country, said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi while speaking with a group of farmers in western state of Gujarat.
He said that he had been saying this for so many years but no one believed it. But now camel's milk is sold double the price of cow's milk, added the prime minister.
"Today I am happy that the chocolate made of camel's milk has a huge demand. I am told that today camel's milk fetches double the money compared to cow milk," an English daily "The Indian Express" quoted him as saying.
He added that he was mocked at when he spoke about the nutritional value of camel's milk nearly two decades ago.
"I clearly remember that in Kutch after the earthquake (in 2001) I had talked about the nutritional value of camel's milk. As if Gujarat's chief minister Narendra Modi had committed some sin, wherever I used to go, people used to make fun of me, cartoons were drawn and was scoffed at," he added.
Modi was Gujarat state's chief minister from 2001 till 2014.
