MAIMANA, Afghanistan, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- At least 28 militants were killed and 13 others injured during the clashes between security forces and Taliban militants in Faryab province, north of Afghanistan on Monday night, a local official said Tuesday.
"A group of Taliban militants attacked the Kohistan district of Faryab province on Monday night and the security forces returned fire which lasted for a few hours, as a result 28 insurgents were killed and 13 others injured," Mohammad Hanif Rezai, army spokesman in northern provinces told Xinhua.
During the clashes, two army soldiers were also wounded, he added.
Taliban militants have not commented on the report so far.
