RAMALLAH, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) said on Monday that the recently approved Israeli nation-state law violates all bases for peace in the Middle East.
"The law aims at destroying the two-state solution and replacing it with an apartheid regime," Saeb Erekat, secretary general of the PLO, told reporters in his office in Ramallah.
The adoption of the Jewish Zionist narrative without consideration of the Arab Palestinian narrative "transforms the conflict from a political one to a religious one," Erekat said.
According to the new Israeli law, the Palestinian people on the Israel-occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, have no right to self-determination.
The top PLO official also accuses the U.S. government of aiding and abetting the Israeli law.
The U.S. is a "full accomplice" in this law, which is a tool of its "Deal of the Century," he said, calling it "a racist and politically blind law."
Riad Mansour, Palestinian representative at the UN, has held a meeting with the legal department of the UN General Assembly, over Israel's UN membership after it approved the law, Erekat said.
"The Israeli occupation, war crimes and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people in the Palestinian territories is going to end and fail eventually," he warned.
The Israeli parliament approved the controversial Jewish Nation-State Basic Law, which constitutionally enshrines the identity of Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people, by a 62-to-55 vote last week.
