TEHRAN, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the recent law approved by the Israeli parliament as "racist," Tasnim news agency reported on Saturday.

"The legislation bears witness to the racist nature of the Tel Aviv regime," Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Bahram Qasemi said in a statement.

"The illegitimate and racist Zionist regime (of Israel) was formed upon the occupation of Palestine and the massacre of its real owners, and the recent move by this regime's parliament is yet another testimony to the racist nature and approach of this regime over the past 70 years," said Qasemi.

Racism in occupied Palestine will be stamped out, he said, lashing out at Washington for backing Israeli measures.

The Israeli parliament passed the "Jewish nation-state" law on Thursday that makes Hebrew the country's national language, and Jerusalem as its capital. It will also grant diaspora Jewry the right to return to Israel.
