ISLAMABAD, July 5 (Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed and nine others injured in a road accident in Pakistan's east Punjab province on Thursday, local reports said.
The accident happened when a passenger van collided with a truck at National Highway near Rahim Yar Khan district of the province, Geo news reported.
The injured people including women and kids have been shifted to a nearby hospital.
Police said that over-speeding of the van seems to be the culprit, but further investigations are being made into the incident.
The accident temporarily disrupted the traffic, but rescue teams cleared the road for commuters after shifting all the injured people to the hospital.
Road accidents frequently happen in Pakistan, mainly due to poorly maintained vehicles, dilapidated roads and negligence of road safety measures.
