JERUSALEM, June 19 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli Navy has successfully completed the test of a new torpedo system which is now operational, the Israeli military said Tuesday.
In the last experiment conducted on Monday night, the Navy fired the torpedos at the ships that simulated enemy vessels, the Israeli military said in a statement.
The experiment was the last in a series of experiments conducted over the past months, it said.
"From now on, the system will be integrated into all of the submarine fleets in the Israeli Navy," the military said.
The new systems have advanced capabilities and characteristics including increased precision and range, it said.
"The operationalization of these systems signifies a great advance in the Israeli Navy's operational capabilities and ability to defend the state of Israel," it added.
