KAMPALA, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Russia's Ivan Nedelko has won the men's singles at the 2018 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Uganda Pro Circuit (Futures 1).
The 31-year old, who is ranked 267 in the world, stopped youngster George Loffhagen of England 6-4, 6-4 in the final played here on Sunday.
Loffhagen, who is 17 years old, failed to tame the hard hitting Russian.
At the semifinal stage, Loffhagen upset Goran Markovic of Serbia 6-4, 6-4.
Loffhagen, ranked 45 in the juniors by ITF, had ejected the tournament's second-seed Fabrizio Ornago from Italy at the quarterfinal stage.
Nedelko beat India's Kaza Vinayak Sharma 6-2, 7-6 in the second semifinal match.
In the men's doubles, the pair of Anand Kumal and Giovani Samaha were supreme. They won the first set 6-3 before the pair of Kaza Vinayak Sharma and Goran Markovic fought back to level matters with a 6-2 win in the second set.
The final set saw Kumal and Samaha win the tie break 10-8.
The players will now shift attention for the Futures 2 of the ITF Uganda Pro Circuit which started last weekend with the qualifiers.
