MADRID, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid on Monday confirmed that defender Nacho Fernandez will be out of action for around a month after suffering an injury in the first half of their 3-0 win away to Las Palmas on Saturday.
Nacho looked to have damaged his ankle as he limped out of the game, but the Real Madrid medical report published on Monday informs he has suffered an "injury to the semitendinosus muscle in the right thigh."
It is the first serious injury that Nacho has suffered as a professional footballer given that the last time the 28-year-old suffered an injury of any kind was when he was a 16-year-old in the Madrid youth system.
The injury means he will miss the two Champions League quarter-finals against Juventus and next weekend's Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid, as well as other Liga Santander ties against Athletic Club Bilbao and Leganes.
The club will have central defenders Sergio Ramos, Rafael Varane and Jesus Vallejo available in the game against Juventus, although coach Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that all of the squad, including Nacho, will travel to Turin ahead of Tuesday's vital game.
