TOKYO, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday tracking an overnight rebound on Wall Street and the yen's softening against the U.S. dollar.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 225.83 points, or 1.09 percent, from Monday to 20,991.93.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 20.69 points, or 1.24 percent, at 1,692.01.
Glass and ceramics products, bank and nonferrous metal issues comprised those that advanced the most by the morning bell.
