NANJING, China, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese city of Nanjing has been selected to stage the FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League Finals for three consecutive years, from 2018-2020, the FIVB (Federation Internationale de Volleyball) announced on Wednesday via its official website.
The Nanjing Olympic Sports Center, a 13,000-seater stadium, will host the finals from June 27-July 1 this year, with six top teams competing for the inaugural Volleyball Nations League champion.
Nanjing is the capital city of east China's Jiangsu Province and has been host to many sporting events, including the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics and the 2005 National Games of China, as well as the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Finals in August 2017.
"In recent years, Nanjing has strongly supported the promotion of volleyball by holding several elite events. The Women's Volleyball Nations League Finals will give fans in China another chance to enjoy the unique skill, athleticism and excitement of the sport of volleyball," said Chen Gang, Director of the Sports Bureau of Jiangsu.
The Volleyball Nations League is a revolutionary event from the FIVB. Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille, France will host the Men's Finals, from July 4-8, 2018.
