YANGON, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese Film Festival was officially inaugurated at Nay Pyi Taw Cinema in Myanmar's Yangon on Saturday evening.
Sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, the festival activities were being launched in 12 regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay since Friday and will last until Feb. 22.
Four Chinese movies - Xuan Zang, Kung Fu Yoga, Detective Chinatown and Go Away Mr. Tumor will be screened in respective cinemas, dubbed with Myanmar voice.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Myanmar Information Minister Pe Myint praised the technology and materials equipped in Chinese movies and expressed belief that the festival would enhance cultural exchanges between China and Myanmar.
Chinese Ambassador Hong Liang pledged to promote cooperation between China and Myanmar in movie industry for better concrete bilateral relations in the future.
In October last year, a film week was also held in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon when two Chinese movies depicting the culture of China were screened.
