ATHENS, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- A Turkish vessel bumped onto a Greek Coast Guard vessel early Tuesday in the Aegean Sea near the islet of Imia, Greek national news agency AMNA reported.
No injuries were reported on the Greek side, but the boat was damaged and was later transferred to nearby Leros island for repair.
The Turkish ship involved sailed away towards the Turkish coast after the incident, according to local reports.
A similar incident occurred on Jan. 17, when a Turkish vessel bumped onto a Greek Navy cannon vessel in the area, AMNA noted.
Known as Imia islet by Greece and Kardak islet by Turkey, the small island is a contested territory between the two neighbors. It was at the center of a dispute which brought the two countries to the brink of war in 1996.
