LHASA, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- The volume of online transactions in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region grew by 29.2 percent year on year in 2017, regional commerce department said on Sunday.
The volume of online transactions was 9.36 billion yuan (about 14. billion U.S. dollars) last year, the commerce department said.
In 2017, the number of netizens in Tibet was around 2.17 million, about two thirds of the regional population.
Tibet reported the 25th straight year of double-digit growth last year. Regional GDP reached 131.06 billion yuan (around 20.5 billion U.S. dollars), according to statistics announced at the 11th regional people's congress.
The regional government has planned to build and renovate more roads to facilitate logistics in the region.
