TOKYO, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday with exporters regaining ground following the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 102.40 points, or 0.43 percent, from Thursday to 23,771.89.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 6.38 points, or 0.34 percent, to 1,890.94.
Marine transportation, precision instrument and machinery-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
