RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid-bound teenager Vinicius Junior scored his first goal of the year on Sunday to hand Flamengo a 1-0 victory over Cabofriense in Brazil' s Campeonato Carioca.
Wearing Flamengo's No. 10 shirt for the first time, the 17-year-old met a Rondinei cross with a first-time volley at the far post that left goalkeeper George with no chance.
Vinicius has now scored five goals in 37 appearances across all competitions for Flamengo since his first-team debut for the Rio outfit last January.
The forward became the most expensive teenage footballer ever last May when Real Madrid agreed to sign him for 45 million euros.
The move was originally slated to take place next July, but Flamengo are reportedly negotiating with the reigning Spanish champions to keep him for another year.
