ISLAMABAD, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- A person was injured as an alleged U.S. pilotless aircraft fired a missile in the border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan, a Pakistani Urdu media reported on Wednesday.

According to media reports, a missile fired from the aircraft landed outside a house in the Badshah Kot area of Kurram Agency, one of the seven tribal agencies in Pakistan's federally administered tribal areas.

Panic gripped the area following the attack, reported Geo News, adding that the identity of the injured was not immediately known.

The aircraft kept on hovering over the area for some time before launching the strike, causing panic among the local people which constitute a large number of women and kids.

This is the first drone strike in the country this year, according to local media reports.

Pakistan has repeatedly protested these attacks as an infringement of its sovereignty and because civilian deaths have also resulted, including women and children, which has further angered the Pakistani government and people.
