LJUBLJANA, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Slovenian tourism has been continuously beating its own records as about 4.4 million tourists spent 11.3 million nights in the country in the first eleven months of this year, more than all of 2016 combined.
According to the country's national statistics office on Thursday, the number of tourist arrivals was up 14 percent and the number of overnight stays increased by 11 percent from the same period last year.
Tourists from abroad spent almost 7.7 million overnight stays, which is a 15-percent increase from the same period last year, while the number of arrivals is also up by 17 percent to 3.2 million.
Meanwhile, the number of domestic overnight stays increased by 4 percent to 3.6 million and the number of domestic arrivals was up six percent to 1.2 million.
The tourism agency attributes the growth to two main causes -- the recovery of the European economy and the country's social stability and security.
