YANGON, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Four people were killed and 37 others injured in road accidents on Myanmar's Yangon-Mandalay highway in July, said the Information Ministry on Saturday.
During the period, a total of 28 traffic accident cases occurred on the highway.
Reckless driving was mostly blamed for the accidents, followed by over-speeding, severe weather, road damage and others.
A total of 116 people died of the accidents on the country's busiest highway in 555 traffic accidents cases with 863 others injured last year.
The 587-km Yangon-Mandalay highway, connecting the commercial city of Yangon and second largest city of Mandalay was opened in December 2010 to reduce the travel time between the two cities.
