DHAKA, July 17 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were injured in bomb explosions Tuesday morning at an election rally of Bangladesh's largest opposition party in Rajshahi city, some 256 km west of Dhaka, a local police official said.
An official of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police told Xinhua on condition of anonymity that three crude bombs exploded during the rally of ex-Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Rajshahi city at about 10:00 a.m. local time, injuring three people including a journalist and a BNP leader.
BNP staged the rally to drum up support for its candidates in the Rajshahi City Corporation Elections slated for July 30.
