Popular Sydney tourist attraction closed following safety concerns

SYDNEY, July 9 (Xinhua) -- An attraction at Sydney's tallest building has closed until further notice on Monday, following a second death at the location this year.

Located on top of Sydney's Centrepoint Tower, the Skywalk tour allowed visitors to venture outside onto a glass platform 268 meters above the city.

A man died Sunday after falling from the platform, leading officials to close the Skywalk component of the tower until further notice.

"Inquiries suggest the incident is self harm related," a New South Wales state police spokeswoman said, with a report currently being prepared for the coroner.

A woman died in similar circumstances in March, prompting new safety measures to be put in place, including more secure harnesses.

However there is now suggestion that Skywalk, which opened in 2005, should remain closed permanently.
