MANILA, June 6 (Xinhua) -- A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck Ilocos Norte province in northern Philippines on Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the earthquake, which struck at 5:12 p.m. local time, hit at a depth of 25 km, 18 km northwest of Marcos town in Ilocos Norte.
Phivolcs said the tremor was also felt in nearby towns including Paoay, Bacarra, Pasuquin in Ilocos Norte province and Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Laoag City, Claveria in Cagayan province and Vigan City.
No damage and aftershocks are expected from the quake, Phivolcs said.
