PHNOM PENH, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Thirty-five garment workers got injured in a five-vehicle rear-end crash in southwest Cambodia's Preah Sihanouk province on Tuesday, a local police officer said.
The crash happened at 7:15 a. m. local time on National Road No. 4 in Prey Nop district when an ice-transporting truck crashed into the back of a garment worker van, setting off a chain-reaction of rear-end collision, said Y Sokha, deputy police chief of Preah Sihanouk province.
"Five vehicles -- one ice-transporting truck and four garment worker vans -- were involved in the accident," he told Xinhua. "Thirty-five workers were wounded including three in serious condition."
He said the injured had been sent to hospitals, as the ice-transporting truck driver had been detained for questioning over the crash.
Meanwhile, the National Social Security Fund said in a press release that the fund would cover for the victims' medical expenses.
