PARIS, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron has accepted the invitation of his American counterpart Donald Trump to visit the United States from April 23 to 25, the French presidency announced on Monday evening in a press release.
It noted that this will be the first state visit of a foreign leader to the United States since the election of Trump.
"This invitation reflects the depth of the historical ties between our two countries, friends and allies, and the strength of the relations between the two presidents," the French presidency said.
The program of the state visit is under preparation. It will include a work meeting at the White House, a joint press conference, several formal ceremonies and a state dinner, according to French presidency.
